La carriera discografica di Lurlean Hunter durò quasi quindici anni, per poi terminare inaspettatamente verso la metà degli anni Sessanta. Hunter (1919-1983) lavorò con il George Shearing Quintet nel 1951 e a metà degli anni Cinquanta registrò quattro incredibili album circondata da star del jazz. Tuttavia, la sua popolarità svanì e le sue ultime registrazioni risalgono al 1964. "Night Life", viene presentata con una band all star diretta da Manny Albam e con Al Cohn, Joe Newman, Barry Galbraith e Hank Jones.
