Pubblicato originariamente nel 1959 per capitalizzare il successo crossover di "Try Me", l'LP di debutto di James Brown Please, Please, Please è una raccolta di 16 dei suoi lati A e B registrati per l'etichetta Federal tra il 1956 e il 1958. Era anche l'album di debutto in studio per i Famous Flames, ed è stato pubblicato come "James Brown and His Famous Flames". Equamente diviso tra ballate (come la title track grezza e influenzata dal gospel "That's When I Lost My Heart") e brani "urlati" ("I Don't Know" e "Baby Cries Over the Ocean"), le canzoni qui rientrano tutte nello stesso stile guidato dal sax e influenzato dal gospel che si sarenne potuta sentire in qualsiasi baracca o nightclub del sud durante la fine degli anni Cinquanta.
